intensive

Please read our terms and conditions section headed Intensive Course. It's really important to us that you understand what we expect of you, and you know what to expect from us.

Please keep in mind that learning to drive is not just about passing the driving test. An intensive course is not for everyone and requires your full dedication, commitment and availability throughout the training.

An intensive driving course provides many hours of driving tuition in a very short space of time. So if, you don't have time to take regular weekly lessons, let us design an intensive driving training to meet your specific requirements and needs.

Regardless of whether you choose our 1-week or 4-week course, it may not give you an opportunity to gain experience on different roads and in different weather conditions. Road safety organisations recommend that you at least enhance your driving experience with a Pass Plus course.

5-day long intensive training. Theory test passed and at least 20 hours of driving experience required. One-to-One basis, 4 hour lesson per day, mock test and free driving test booking included.

From 7 to 14 day long intensive training. Theory test passed and at least 10 hours of driving experience required. One-to-One basis, 4 hour lesson per day, mock test and free driving test booking included.

How Much Are The Tests?

Theory Test - £23
Practical Driving Test - £62 (Saturdays £75)
Extended Practical Driving Test - £124 (Saturday £150)

How Many Lessons A Week Should I Take?

The DVSA state that it takes around 40-50 hours of driving instruction along with about 20-25 hours of private practice to reach a standard that's safe enough to pass the test.

Continuity of driving lessons is really important. The more often you are behind the wheel the better. Between 1.5 and 3 hours per week is recommended to learn swiftly to be test read in a few weeks.

The good news is that you can take practical lessons while preparing for your theory test. In fact, taking driving lessons while studying for the theory test is generally beneficial to the learning process.

What happens during my first driving lesson?

Your instructor will pick you up at location of your choice before checking your eyesight and your provisional driving licence. Expect for your instructor to drive to quiet area before asking if you are ready to swap over. Expect to learn cockpit drill, hand and foot control, practice clutch control, gear changes and moving off and stopping.

Who Can I Practice With?

It's not compulsory to learn with an instructor. You can learn with friends or family as long as you have the correct learner driver insurance and that car and the person who sits in with you meets the legal requirements.

How Will I Know If I'm Ready For My Test?

To be ready for test you should not be any more a learner. You should be able to deal and cope with challenging driving situation and scenarios independently. You should be already a driver. The examiner will look for a minimum standard (not a perfect drive) for 40 minutes with no serious or dangerous faults.

    dual carriageways

Motorways and dual carriageways allow traffic to travel faster and in greater safety than on ordinary roads, but it's vital to know the rules that apply on them.

On you driving test. the driving examiner will be looking for you to show that you can keep up with the flow of traffic and that you are comfortable of driving at higher speed.

    Town & City centre

By this point in your training you should be well on the way with improving your ability to recognise potential hazards and learnt how to deal with them with little help from your instructor.

By using the System of Car Control, forward planning, OAP, LADA routine you will learn how to have a systematic approach for dealing with any hazards.

    progressive & eco

Progressive driving is about making maximum progress for the road, traffic and weather condition without rising safety.
This required more driving skill along with better planning and awareness.

EcoSafe driving is very similar but with more emphasis on saving fuel. In current economic climate fuel consumption is plying a bigger role in people's driving habits.

    independent driving

Independent driving is part of the practical driving test. It takes approximately 20 minutes by following directions from a sat nav, traffic signs and/or verbal directions.

Your local driving instructor will offer valuable practice for the independent driving knowing the sat nav routes and the road sign routes that the examiners use.

Please remember to NOT to place your Sat-Nav device where it is likely to obstruct your vision.

    4
    Manoeuvres
    straight reversing

The set manoeuvres show the examiner that you can control your car safely in a confined space.

Straight reverse is essentially reversing in a straight line and then simply stop. The examiner will expect you to exercise this manoeuvre accurately, under control and constant all-round observation.

    Reverse left / right

This is no loner part of the driving test, but it's still recommended that you practice it to help with your reversing skills.

It's important that you are able to do it correctly and safely as to practice the observation and control skills.

These manoeuvres have been replaced by the pulling up on the right and forward bay parking manoeuvre.

    Pull up on right

The manoeuvre combines stopping on the right with straight-line reversing.

    The examiner will look for:

    • Good judgement of approaching traffic when moving to the right
    • Awareness of following traffic before moving to the right
    • Correct, well timed signals
    • Good observation, control and accuracy when reversing
    • Safety when moving off
    bay parking

As a part of your driving test you might be asked to reverse into a parking bay or to drive forwards into a bay and then reverse out.

The examiner will want to see:

    • All around observation as you park
    • Correct use of controls
    • Reasonable accuracy
    • The car parked neatly between the lines
    • Dealing with other car park users safely
    turn in the road

This manoeuvre has been replaced by the pulling up on the right and forward by parking.

In day-to-day driving, however, this manoeuvre remains as relevant as ever, and being able to perform it well is crucial.

If you found yourself in a dead end road it might be the only manoeuvre that you could use to turn around safely.

    parallel parking

The parallel parking requires a frequent all-round observation. It's absolutely vital to maintain a constant level of observation and make sure it's safe.

Knowing exactly when to steer to the right is key to a good parallel parking, as the timing of this turn will dictate how close relative to the kerb you finish.

Always look in the direction you intend on moving and take effective all-round observation.

If you getting out of oncoming traffic way, it's ok to continue reversing. If you are getting into the way of oncoming traffic, you should Give Way.
